New Print Release – The Silent Sunrise

It is with great pleasure I am finally releasing a new print that I have been working on for the last couple of months. It has taken quite a lot of effort to make a print out of this photograph until I was finally satisfied with the result and the quality and I went to all lengths possible to make sure this photographic print is truly unique and of exceptional quality.

It is printed on a photographic paper Fuji Flex, made to order, and is available in a small edition total of 10 prints and two additional artist proofs which will be up for sale once the main edition runs out.

Places I Am Drawn To: Death Valley

There is something special about revisiting same places over and over again. It is like visiting a good old friend. We tend to learn and understand the place better, under different conditions, different light, different weather and mood. We get inspired by what we see and sometimes we feel down and not creative, but nevertheless it all contributes to our greater understanding and awareness, and inevitably leads to better photographs.

However, one question has always bothered me – what draws us to certain places and not others? One of such places for me is Death Valley. I have been searching for an answer to this question for a long time, and over the years I think I developed a better sense to be able to answer it.

Sometimes, some of the best subjects could be found right along the road. As Edward Weston, the most influential and defining photographer of the past century once famously said – “Anything more than 500 yards from the car just isn’t photogenic.”.

I often find it is true. We, landscape photographers, find ourselves venturing far into the wilderness, enduring long and exhausting hikes in search of that perfect image, ignoring and blinding ourselves from what is right there in front of our eyes in a more mundane setting so to speak.
